Non-Destructive

Removing a thread from a folder doesn't delete it - it just moves it to your main thread list.

Creating Threads in Folders

Option 1: Start new chat in folder

  1. Open a folder
  2. Click "+ New Chat"
  3. The new thread is automatically in that folder

Best Practices

Naming Conventions

Good folder names:

  • ✅ "Math 101 - Linear Algebra"
  • ✅ "Research: AI Ethics Paper"
  • ✅ "Web Dev Learning Path"
  • ✅ "Work: Project Phoenix"

Avoid:

  • ❌ "Stuff"
  • ❌ "Untitled"
  • ❌ "asdflkj"
  • ❌ "New Folder (1)"

Regular Maintenance

Weekly:

  • Move new threads to appropriate folders
  • Archive completed conversations
  • Delete unnecessary threads

Monthly:

  • Review folder organization
  • Consolidate similar folders
  • Archive old projects

Semester/Quarter:

  • Archive old course folders
  • Create new folders for new courses
  • Clean up completed projects

Thread Naming

Within folders, name threads clearly:

  • "Homework #1 - Derivatives"
  • "Bug: Login not working"
  • "Essay Draft: Climate Change"
  • "Code Review: API module"

Searching Within Folders

  1. Open a folder
  2. Use the search box
  3. Results show only threads in that folder
  4. Filter by date, model, or content

Search across all folders:

  1. Use main search (Ctrl+K / Cmd+K)
  2. Enter your query
  3. See results from all folders
  4. Filter by folder if needed

Troubleshooting

Can't create folder?

  • Check if you've hit any limits
  • Ensure folder name is valid
  • Try refreshing the page
  • Contact support if issue persists

Thread not showing in folder?

  • Check if it was moved elsewhere
  • Search for the thread
  • Refresh the folder view
  • Check "All Threads" view

Folder disappeared?

  • Check Archived Folders
  • Use search to find it
  • Check if accidentally deleted
  • Contact support for recovery

Folder Limits

All accounts share the same limits:

  • Unlimited folders (reasonable use)
  • Unlimited threads per folder
  • Standard features included

Tips & Tricks

Quick Organization

  • Use keyboard shortcuts to move threads
  • Drag and drop (coming soon)
  • Bulk select multiple threads

Color Coding

Future update will include:

  • Folder colors for visual organization
  • Emoji icons for folders
  • Custom themes per folder

Integration

Folders will integrate with:

  • Calendar for deadline tracking
  • Notes for project documentation
  • Tasks for to-do lists
  • Tags for additional organization

Start Simple

Begin with 3-5 main folders. Add more as needed. Over-organizing can be as bad as no organization!
